Description:
- Successful candidate will be responsible for performing the purchasing function of acquiring and expediting materials, parts, shop supplies and services for the organization and ensuring conformance to corporate and purchasing policies while obtaining the overall best value.
- This is an entry to mid level position reporting to the existing Purchaser.
Responsibilities:
- Revi ew overdue Purchase Order report and expedite.
- Purchase materials, parts, shop supplies and services for internal departments from suppliers.
- Expedite as per requests by production.
- Work with suppliers and internal departments to solve quality and service issues for purchased products.
- Work with suppliers based upon the defined strategy and criteria and maintains good business relations with them.
- Outsource Fabricated parts as requested.
- Assist in cycle counts, slob reduction/elimination plan.
- Implement kanban and VMI program for Production.
- Assist in new potential supplier selection and supplier development.
- Assist in supply chain process improvements. This includes developing cost reduction opportunities for purchased products, supply base expansion or consolidation and implementing inventory management programs
- Review zero costed Purchase Order report and update costing.
Qualifications:
- Machine shop/metal fabrication buying functions experience preferred.
- Business or Technical Diploma would be an asset.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Well organized, goal-oriented and focused.
