Responsibilities:
- Promotes and implements company Health and Safety policies and procedures and the regulations of the provincial authority having jurisdiction.
- Co-operate with and act as liaison between the officers having authority and the company.
- Ensures Toolbox and Safety Committee meetings are held regularly.
- Posts the following information Emergency Plans Rules and Regulations Safety meetings Safety inspections and all other documents relevant to the company Health and Safety program.
- Participate in Hazard Inspections.
- Conduct safety orientations of employees and inform workers of any potential or actual dangers to their health and safety.
- Ensures workers use appropriate PPE when required and train in the safe use of PPE.
- Inspect work areas and job sites on a regular basis document findings and forward to Supervisor and others as appropriate and follow up to ensure effective corrective measures have been taken.
- Inform Supervisor of any safety non-compliance and ensure action is taken to eliminate safety non-compliance.
- Participate in incident investigations and report all findings to Supervisor provide recommendations for the prevention of recurrences.
- Ensures Supervisors and workers are properly trained. Proven experience handling multiple job sites a must.
Qualifications:
- Degree/Diploma preferred COR or CSRP Certification is strongly preferred,
- 5-7 years' minimum experience in trades Health and Safety,
- Knowledge of or exposure to radiation handling would be a definite asset but not required
