Chemistry Laboratory Assistant

Currently our Chemistry laboratory is recruiting one candidate as a General Laboratory Assistant in the Edmonton office. This is a temporary contract position that expires December 2011. This is an excellent opportunity for anyone looking for a uniquely rewarding opportunity.
Responsibilities:
- Filtration of environmental water samples based on laboratory protocol
- Drying, grinding and weighing of environmental soil samples for analytical purposes
- Assist with receiving, labeling, and logging in samples
- Preparation of containers to send to the field for sample collection
- Other related lab duties as required
Qualifications:
- High School diploma with some chemistry background is required
- Previous experience in an environmental chemical laboratory preferred
- Must be able to follow written and verbal instructions
- Strong ability to multitask and able to meet deadlines is essential
- Enhanced attention to detail and strong computer skills is required
- Ability to work as part of a team and interact effectively with individuals at all levels in the organization is required
