Responsibilities:
- Note: This position will relocate to Burlington, Ontario in 2014
- Technically responsible for the system
- Auxiliary Power Supply for HVDC stations of offer preparation as well as projects
- Performs the design of complex hardware and software application solutions
- Completes tracking of complex orders to ensure that equipment cost and delivery objectives are met by responding to customers promptly
- Completes records of complex specification costs and price estimates
- Tracks and maintains assets i.e. equipment, tools, software etc.
- Completes recommendations for alternatives or changes to complex customer specifications and/or processes to better match Company products to customer needs and to improve productivity
- Performs investigations and analyzes of complex field problems
- Completes explanations and clarifies information to enable proper interpretation and evaluation of complex specifications performance characteristics or other technical data
- Performs full range of standard work for the professional field
- Refers complex unusual problems to others Identifies and resolves more complex problems and applies problem-solving skills in order to deal with most situations
- These jobs are subject to broad practices and procedures covered by functional precedents and policies achievement of a circumscribed operational activity and to managerial direction
- Specification of auxiliary power supply systems including IC Cost estimation for external engineering as well as components evaluation of risks and chances
- Coordination and clarification of internal and external interfaces
- Establish offers including conceptual planning and cost estimation
Qualifications:
- Degree or diploma in electrical engineering
- Minimum 5-8 years of successful experience in control, protection, auxiliary supply of high voltage sub-stations
- Preferred experience with HVDC stations or projects
- Demonstrated project management and customer service skills
- Strong ability to troubleshoot and offer solutions to technical issues
- Understanding of functions and how the functions align with and support the business and operational processes
- Successfully applies complex knowledge of fundamental concepts practices and procedures of particular area of specialization
- Provide general guidelines or train support and/or professional staff
