| POSITION SUMMARY: The Senior Operations Manager will oversee the Calgary branch operations of a busy logistics organization. The successful candidate will take a hands-on approach to leading, ensuring the continued growth of the branch and maximizing operational efficiencies at every turn. |
| DUTIES/RESPONSIBILIT IES/ACCOUNTABILITIES: Responsible for operations activities related to the provision of customs, international freight forwarding, and warehousing services Engage in account management activities Remain aware of market trends, technological developments, and customer and competitor activity Constantly review performance to identify continuous improvement opportunities and implement new strategies when appropriate Recommend, implement and monitor service levels to ensure maximum levels of client satisfaction Partner with carriers Responsible for the preparation of annual branch budget as for branch P & L Manage multiple, on-going projects from initial design through to implementation Lead, motivate, inspire, train, coach, develop and guide staff in the day to day operations Consistently achieve and exceed objectives through the development of employees, systems, and processes Participate in leading, overseeing, and managing the Transport Canada Air Cargo Security (ACS) Program |
| SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS In addition to initiative, integrity, strong work ethic and being a team player: Post-secondary education Minimum of five years experience in a branch management role Expertise in customs brokerage operations, international freight forwarding in Canada (Air / Ocean Import and Export) as well as Warehousing management CCS Designation with a knowledge of IATA and CIFFA Able to perceive profitable business opportunities Strong leadership abilities and proven skills in developing staff; a people-oriented team-leader Builds strong client relationships and provide superior customer services Superior organizational skills / extremely detail-oriented / ability to prioritize Superior communication and interpersonal skills (oral and written) Able to multi-task, problem-solve and troubleshoot in a fast-paced, high volume, environment Flexibility to accommodate tight deadlines and changing priorities Dedication to completing work on time and accurately Proficiency in MS Office Capable of contributing to the strategic direction of the company through constant improvement in processes, procedures, workflow planning and organization |
