MS Reference Data Production Support Engineer
Position Description
This is an Associate level position for a Production Support Engineer with the MS Reference Data group, working in the O2 product area. The successful candidate will join the Engineering, Support and Deployment team and be responsible for deploying, maintaining, and providing escalated support for MS Reference Data production systems. Activities the candidate will be responsible for include:
• Configuration, deployment, and verification of MS Reference Data systems
• Provide documentation and training for Level 2 support personnel
• Escalation point for level 2 support personnel and liaison to the Engineering/Development team
• Outage Management - responsible for technical resolution and the tracking of follow-ups for outages in MS Reference Data products
Skills Required
Technical Skills
• UNIX/Linux administration and system integration background
• Understanding of TCP/IP and client/server architecture
• Solid understanding of SDLC
• Database experience preferably Sybase
• Basic understanding of SQL
• Programming skills in PERL and Java
• Experience in maintaining Highly Available systems
• Experience with source control systems
Professional Skills
• At least 3 years of relevant professional work experience
• Strong trouble shooting/problem solving capabilities
• Effective people skills including verbal and written communications skills for coordinating between developers, users, support personnel and internal clients
• Self starter, motivated and can work unsupervised
• Structured/organized approach to projects and able to set and meet delivery dates
• Understand and execute any part of a full production product cycle including; requirements gathering, design, coding, testing, production turnover, documentation and post-production support
• Able to work in a fast changing environment and work under pressure
Skills Desired
Technical Skills
• Experience with Perforce and CVS
• Understanding of LDAP or directory server infrastructure, have written applications to update or query LDAP
• C, C++
• Experience with web server installation
Professional Skills
• Work experience in a financial Institutional environment
• Experience working in global team with resources in multiple locations
