Application Production Support
Position Description
The candidate will provide critical support for increasingly important legacy bank technology as well as new products that are being rolled out Firmwide. New applications will be added to the supported products list over the next 6 months. Among these systems are Sales Reporting, Retail Banking Data Warehouse, and Banker Portal. This position requires attention to detail, ability to monitor ticketing systems as issues arise, resolving end-user issues relating to these applications, troubleshooting infrastructure issues on the UNIX platform for both GWM and ISG users, reviewing log files, updating documentation and knowledgebase with resolutions, monitoring scheduled jobs, reviewing netcool alerts and following up with appropriate people, and reducing the amount of escalation to development teams. This candidate will ultimately serve as escalation for offshore support resources and reporting on systems metrics.
This position will be a part of a team which will provide application support for vendor-hosted and internally hosted systems. Application support entails both backend and user-support. As an application support analyst, your role is to tenaciously troubleshoot and isolate problems effectively and efficiently and develop work-around solutions where possible. You will also be required to work on new initiatives, such as setting up new jobs or monitoring for servers. This is a demanding role requiring user facing skills, attention to detail, ability to quickly learn the business processes and the ability to work in a team environment.
The ideal candidate will need to engage with peers, developers and offshore teams to provide global Level-2/3 application and infrastructure support to Morgan Stanley's Global Banking Technology division. The role will also provide the exposure to the development and production release process, with opportunities for increasing technical and process improvement skills.

Technical Skills Required:
• Basic UNIX administration. Familiar with usage of vi/less/grep/find/du/df/ps/cat and UNIX file system.
• Strong T-SQL skills with ability to write complex queries and debug complex stored procedures.
• SQL query performance tuning, development of extract and load procedures, monitoring procedures, data transformation procedures, stored procedures, triggers etc.
• Intermediate Perl programming skills
• An understanding of job scheduling tools for example Autosys/Cron.
• Ability to write basic shell scripts.
• Data analysis skills
