Partnering with our client, we are currently searching for anOperations Engineer. This position will be a 21/21 rotational assignment, primarily working onshore. The project involves drilling (and possibly testing) one to two deepwater wells using SBM fluids in 6500 - 8000 ft. of water, 220 nm offshore Newfoundland in a harsh weather environment.

 

Responsibilit ies:


  • Ensure the technical and regulatory competency of the drilling operations plan meet all the Canada-Newfoundland Offshore Petroleum Board regulations and environmental laws.


  • Interfaces with the CNLOPB for program changes during routine operational activities.


  • Ensure operational activities are planned with IFO and BBS as primary considerations and monitors CHESM progress with third party vendors during well execution.


  • Ensure that all equipment is built, inspected and supplied to CVX deepwater standards, including witnessing special QA/QC activities.


  • Ensure well design and operations follow previous campaign's lessons learned as well as global DW best practices.


  • Liase with CNLOPB on various approvals and operational issues such as the Approval to Drill a Well (ADW).


  • Effectively work with G&G operations team in matters common to rank wildcat wells.


  • Review Offshore POA's.


  • Be proficient, review and comment on 3rd party technical studies such as Riser Analysis, Weak Point Assessment, DP Marine Operations, Solids Control, Cement Design, Drilling Fluids Design and Bit, BHA and drillstring design and selection.


  • Assist in the selection of services; prepare the EOIs and RFP for third party services during the early phase of the planning process, working in conjunction with the Company's Procurement Specialist, and ensuring all Contractors are ranked and meet Company's CHESM criteria during the evaluation phases and prior to award.


  • Monitor assigned contractors response to the CHESM process during operational activities.


  • Host and communicate during weekly vendor meetings along with providing guidance to in-house vendor service coordinators.


  • Ensure operational invoices are verified and reviewed prior to payment.


  • Perform special technical studies, review and/or capture comprehensive performance statistics daily and prepare progress presentations as required for CoV and internal reporting.


  • Interface with the Field Drilling Engineer and Finance Coordinator to assure accurate cost control is accomplished.


  • Assist the offshore drilling team in design of safe and efficient processes to accomplish the drilling objectives.


  • Conduct hole section reviews in conjunction with the DS.




Essentials:


  • 2+ years of experience


  • Must have certifications in SafeGulf, Well Control, Deepwater HUET, TWIC, and Rig Pass.


  • Familiarity with DQ Big Bore (36", 28", 22", 18", 16", 13-3/4" ) systems desirable.




  • Working knowledge of Drilling databases; assist in daily data report integrity and transmission to CoVs and regulatory entities.




  • Be safety sensitive; position is a member of the Emergency Response Team with 24/7 responsibilities.


  • Require approximately 20 days of in-country training to complete local requirements.


  • Engineering degree will most likely be required to obtain a foreign work permit.


  • Eligible to work for any employer in the United States without visa sponsorship.
