We are currently looking for a Power Line Technician for an electrical utility company in the spectacular Yukon Territory. While working in the Yukon Territory you will have access to extensive outdoor recreational opportunities, breathtaking scenery and a rapidly growing economy.

As a member of the Transmission and Distribution team you would be responsible for the construction and maintenance of electrical transmission and distribution systems, including substations and street light systems in order to maintain continuous and satisfactory service to customers.

Terms of Employment: Permanent, Full Time.

Salary: 40 hours per week, $69,127 - $81,324, plus Northern Allowance and relocation Assistance.

Anticipated Start Date: As soon as possible.

Location: Whitehorse, Yukon

Education: Journeyman Power Line Technician, Inter-provincial or Red Seal certification preferred, Class 3 Drivers License with air endorsement, rigging and hoisting certification.

Experience: 3-5 years

Languages: Speak English, Read English, Write English

Major Work Area: Public utility commission - Construction, Maintenance, Service. Exposure to high voltage equipment, heights, and plant environment, Performs relief coverage for other districts are required. Travel and periods of immediate stand-by coverage are requirements of this position. May be exposed to inclement weather while working outside and when traveling.

You will be responsible to perform all aspects of line maintenance such as installation, maintenance, repair, construction and customer service work including one-man work and response, while ensuring compliance with high safety standards and practices.

Specific Skills: Performs feeder and phase balancing; troubleshoot and repair distribution systems including pole and conductor replacement; meter readings and installs poly phase metering; investigating customer complaints; constructs transmission and distribution, single phase and three phase, including installation of three phase transformer banks; stops, starts and synchronizes prime movers as per operational requirements; de-energizes and isolates/energizes and returns to service equipment and their respective auxiliary equipment as per standard procedures; performs right-of-way brushing maintenance; completes outage and system event reports; maintains confidentiality of corporation information; performs other related duties.
