Partnering with our client, we are currently searching for aField Drilling Engineer. This position will require approximately 20 days of in-country training to complete local requirements. This position is a 21/21 offshore rotating assignment once operations commence. The project involves drilling (and possibly testing) one to two deepwater wells using SBM fluids in 6500 - 8000 ft of water, 220 nm offshore Newfoundland in a harsh weather environment. This position assists the Operations Engineer/Superintendent with information and special studies.
Responsibilities:
- Assist in the selection of services; prepare the EOIs and RFPs for third party services during the early phase of the planning process, working in conjunction with the Company's Procurement Specialist, and ensuring all Contractors are ranked and meet Company's CHESM criteria during the evaluation phases and prior to award.
- Responsible for hands-on QA/QC assurance and dimensional inspection of the subsea wellhead equipment and running tools.
- Prepares the operational POAs (detailed operational instructions) in conjunction with the DSMs, the Contractor's relevant operational supervisors and the 3rd Party service representatives and 3rd Party onshore coordinators; after review and concurrence he/she distributes the working plan to all involved --DSMs, Contractor's personnel and 3rd Party personnel.
- Prepares casing landing details and other technical well records in conjunction with the DSMs.
- Liaisons with the Operations Engineer in the office for total work effort, additional support, technical counsel and with the St. John’s Finance Coordinator for cost control.
- Attends the Contractor's morning meetings and the CVX Morning Meetings with the Lead DSM.
- Coordinates technical issues and efforts between office and field; coordinates the weekly third party safety meeting.
- Reviews POAs with the office staff in conjunction with the DSM(s) available at the time.
- Relieve the Day or Night DSM, at times.
- Provides technical reports on unusual situations.
Essentials:
- 2+ years of experience.
- Office skills are required for the planning and pre-spud phase.
- Experienced with wellheads and various subsea running tools along with drill pipe and BHA design, hydraulics, casing running tools, proper casing make-ups, running procedures, cementing practices, heavy lift inspection, optimizing dual activity capability and operational procedures that include OE safe guards along with daily report preparation.
- Required Certification in SafeGulf, Well Control, Deepwater HUET. TWIC. and RigPass.
- Knowledge of Drilling databases like Wellview and Third Party information systems to assist in daily data transmission to CoVs and regulatory entities.
- Engineering degree will most likely be required to obtain a foreign work permit.
- Eligible to work for any employer in the United States without visa sponsorship.
